Making a Stockpile List
Part1: Introduction

You Need a List to Build A Stockpile:
If you want to make the most out of your coupon savings you will need to build a stock pile. However, just like any other shopping you do when building your stockpile you should work off of a list, not just purchase whatever is on sale to get the best savings. The goal is to know what your family needs and then secure it at the lowest possible price. This series will help you to make a personal stockpile list for you and your family.

Read this First:
Make sure and read this article about getting started for some basic things you should know before you start bringing your stockpile home.

Have the Right Attitude:
Don’t get carried away. If you have a family of 3 you do not need 100 tubes of toothpaste even though they were free, and you probably don’t need hundreds of bottles of pain relievers just because you have never seen them for $.04 before.  When making your list focus on getting the right quantity for your family and not just obtaining the most you can of any one deal. Besides tax can really add up. Be realistic, shows on TV are very entertaining, but don't always paint a realistic picture of how to build a stockpile. Stockpiles are built with many small trips, and not one where you buy $5,000.00 in items for pennies.

Make a List With Me
This series should get you through making your stock pile list section by section. If you have been using coupons for a while I suggest adding your preferred stock up price next to the items on the list. Remember that not everything that you spend money on can necessarily be stockpiled. I for example do not stockpile and freeze a lot of fruit (because I like to eat it fresh) and I am not a fan of frozen, thawed bread, and we don’t usually get the opportunity to stock up on milk.

How To Build Your List With Me
Every few days I will post a list of items according to the category we are working on. Take the list and edit/ personalize it for your needs. If I write cereal, you may want to put Cheerios on your list. Three to five days later, I will post my personal list for those who are interested. And hopefully we will have a stockpile list before you know it. If I am going to fast, feel free to work at your own pace as these post will remain on the site, and will be added to the getting started page.

Here are the stockpile list we will be working on by section:
  • Baby & Pets (we’ll do both these list the same week as they are pretty limited)
  • Household (includes paper and plastic goods)
  • Health and Beauty Supplies & Cosmetics
  • Beverages
  • Food (we will double up some weeks on these as well)
    • Baking/Spices
    • Breakfast
    • Canned Goods
    • Condiments & Sauces
    • Frozen
    • Meat/Seafood
    • Pasta & Side dishes
    • Refrigerated
    • Snacks & Sweets
    • Vegetables/Fruit
  • Pharmacy
For your personal list you can separate yours into sections however you’d like but this is how mine is separated so that is what we will be using here. Feel free to post any comments or questions along the way.
